Commissioned by Sculpture Square Singapore

Earlier this year, Sculpture Square commissioned emerging as well as established artists in 3D and modern art for The Farrer Park Company Art Collection. The artists were selected from around the Asian region and I was one of the fortunate ones to be selected for this project. Would like to specially thank Sculpture Square for this wonderful opportunity to be a part of this impressive art collection.

A dramatic conflict of shapes was created through the tension of colours, which strengthens each other by their effect as well as by tension of containment and eruption, of fixation and flotation. The moving structures that are developed here offered the possibility of many-sided emotional variations and an intensification of painterly expression, similar to the use of sonatas in music. With this orientation, the work leads the observer to a different plane, unknown to the conventional logic system of common, practical reality.

The physical movements of mountains, water, trees and flowers, ‘a reminder of similar movements in the human body, of similar motions of joy and suffering in love’. The similarity of the organic shape to a human form, waving arms and kicking a leg in the air, is unmistakable and conforms wholly to the anthropomorphic understanding of nature. But far from melancholy, nature here is filled with energy, whether joy, pain or suffering.

Affection, Attraction & Attachment

Medium: Acrylic On Canvas

Size: 100cm(H) x 60cm(W)

The inspiration behind this series of paintings is based on my personal observations on love and it’s effect it has on humans. Love is a variety of different feelings, states, and attitudes that ranges from interpersonal affection to pleasure. It can refer to an emotion of a strong attraction and personal attachment. A virtue representing human kindness, compassion and affection. The unselfish loyal and benevolent concern for the good of another.

Abstractly discussed love usually refers to an experience one person feels for another. Love often involves caring for or identifying wait a person or thing. These paintings represents and depicts my personal views of love in a visual format.
